Sunset over Kalamalka Lake, BC. Kalamalka Lake is approximately 4km south of the city of Vernon, and can be seen from highway 97. The stunning blue colour of the lake is because the lake is a marl lake; when it warms in the summer, calcium carbonate creates crystals which reflect the blue-green colours you'll see when the lake is under sunlight. This lake is surrounded by wildflowers in the springtime, but is beautiful regardless of the time of year you visit. This photo was taken in the summer time.
